2017 Report: Data Presentation to Vermont Legislature

Snapshot of some of the STR data reported to VT Legislature in 2017:

  • 5,100 AirBnB listings were active in Vermont in 2017

    • 22% of all active listings had never been booked

    • 75% were rented by hosts with 1 or 2 listings

    • 25% were rented by hosts with 3 or more listings

    • 75% of listings were defined by AirBnB as “whole-home rentals”

    • 63% of Vermont’s AirBnB hosts were women

    • The average age of all Vermont hosts was 50-years-old

    • Seniors were “the fastest-growing segment” of the AirBnB hosting population, “using home-sharing as a way to ‘age in place’”

    • The median host earned approximately $5,900 annually and rented their space for 24 nights a year

    • Fewer than 3% of all Airbnb listings in Vermont were rented for more than 180 days a year
