Members are invited to attend the VTSTRA Policy & Advocacy Committee Meetings and participate in the discussions related to our political strategy, lobbying efforts, and advocacy campaigns. These meetings reoccur monthly on every first Wednesday of the month at 4:00 pm EST via Zoom. A representative from our lobbying firm MMR, LLC will be present to advise this Committee.

1. State-level P&A Work:

   1. Annual Member Meeting (3/3/22)

      1. Getting to work on our 2022 Advocacy Goal: Develop a widespread appreciation for Vermont’s vacation rental industry

         1. Milestones:

            • Maintain lobbying efforts at the statehouse through calendar year

            • Support grassroots efforts by forming and growing Local Chapters

            • Receive public recognition of STR benefits by VT decision-makers, media, and/or tourism boards

            • Earn representation on a state advisory board or council

         2. Tactics: 

            • An STR Economic Impact Study (EIS) for the state of Vermont 

            • A public relations campaign to change the narrative around STRs

            • Collaborative educational campaigns with the state departments

            • A statewide conference demonstrating the diverse opportunities that STRs bring to VT
